Checkout the amazing colourful world under the water. There are five amazing locations at Weligama beach which makes sub diving fun. The locations are accessed via boats and have a depth of 15 to 30 meters. You’d see the magical rock formations, colourful corals, turtles, lobsters and various other fish.
Weligama is one of the most popular places for scuba diving in Sri Lanka. There are a lot of reasonably priced scuba providers, great accommodations and beautiful underwater locations to see. You don't need to be an experienced diver to scuba dive at Weligama.
Yala Rock, a rocky area with smaller caves is a location with magnificent varieties of fish including parrotfish, lionfish, stonefish and turtles. The maximum death of about 23 - 24 meters and the dive time is about 40 to 45 minutes.
Dispa Rock, with about 32 meter of diving depth and another 30 minutes of a boat ride is the deepest in the area. The sandy bottom with smaller rocks is the grounds for tigerfish and barracudas.
Prince Heinrichs Patch, or PHP with about 20 meters of depth is another beautiful place to see eels, stingrays and various other fish.
The diving mostly takes place throughout the year, however check for weather and ring up a few places for availability before you go.
