The Donkey Clinic & Education Centre was established with the intention of aiding donkeys who were abandoned and seen suffering on the streets of Mannar. The donkeys are victims of injury and cruelty, typically to road traffic accidents. In order to create a safer ecosystem with access to food, water and medical services, the welfare centre seeks to ensure the treatment and care of these vulnerable tamed donkeys.
The clinic is open to visitors to feed, groom and learn about donkeys from 9.00 am to 4.30 pm daily. You can also find the one and only White donkey available in Sri Lanka. Tickets are priced at LKR 1000 for foreigners and LKR 200 for locals. Discounts are available for groups and children.
