Dedigama Kota Vehera is an architectural gem famed for its untarnished grandeur. The distinctive detail of the ancient stupa lies on the intentionally flattened top. A smaller stupa has been built within the confines of the larger one, contributing to the temple’s unique quirks. The stupa was presumably constructed on the birthplace of King Parakramabahu, and thus the name 'suthikagaraya' meaning the place of birth.
The temple is erected with a museum that exhibits information about historical sites in the area, and an eclectic array of antiques discovered from the Dedigama Kota Vehera, such as the famous Eth Pahana; an extremely beautiful and unique elephant lamp.
