Kegalle’s most famed hiking and camping spot is the spectacular 797.7 meter tall Bible Rock, or best known as Bathalegala. The mountain bears a striking resemblance to the Sigiriya Rock, and is aptly named as the Bible Rock due to its shape resembling the Bible. It is nothing short of raw perfection with dramatically panoramic vistas of mountains, waterfalls, and the sky above - it is sheer paradise!

The stunning views of Ambuluwawa mountain, Urakanda, Asupini Ella, Kabaragala, and even Sri Pada, all adds up to an amazing excursion. Another perk lies in its bird watching experience.

As you reach the top, you will come across an abandoned temple with a small stupa and shrine room.

Climbing and descending takes approximately 1-2 hours, and is best done between the months of January to April. Leeches are seldom found, however avoid the monsoon season as the rocky trail tends to get slippery.
