An ethnographic museum with artifacts from the Kandyan era will give you a glimpse of the pre-colonial Sinhalese culture. Among the 5000 artifacts the highlights are a replica of the golden crown used by the Kandyan King Sri Wickrama Rajasingha and a copy of the 1815 agreement known as the “Kandyan Convention” or “Udarata Giwisuma”.

The building used for the museum was the house of royal concubines of the king and believed to be built by King Sri Wickrama Rajasingha. Sri Wickrama Rajasingha was the last king of Sri Lanka and known as the “Malabar” king. It takes about an hour or two to check the artefacts in this museum.
