With its amazing waves and swells Arugam Bay is Sri Lanka’s best surf location. During the season the beach is loaded with tourists who visit Sri Lanka to just catch the best waves at dawn in Arugam Bay. There are many amazing restaurants and places to relax in Arugam Bay, try out some Sri Lankan style spicy Kottu Roti with Lion Lagers to call it a day.
Best time to visit Arugambay is during March to October, however local experts say out of those July, August and September are the best. There are three main surf points in the area, Arugambay Main Point, Whiskey Point and Peanut Farm, all of these are second to none, and they all get super busy.
There are plenty of equipment hires and surf camps in Arugam Bay, however if you are a beginner surfer its best to spend a few days at Weligama or Pottuvil Point before getting here.
Apart from surfing Arugam Bay also offers dolphin watching, there are boat trips of about two hours. During May to September is best for Dolphin Watching.
If you are a keen surfer it is ideal to spend a few weeks at Arugam Bay.
