Welcome to Mahamodara-Sea Turtle Hatchery. We save turtles who are at risk of losing their lives to the fishing industry, whether trapped in nets or killed for meat. We currently have 40 turtles, including 4 types of turtles. You all are welcome to come and visit here in Sri Lanka to see and learn about Tara turtles.

Best time to travel
On average, the temperatures are always high.
A lot of rain (rainy season) falls in the month: April, May, September, October, November and December.
The warmest month is January with an average maximum temperature of 31°C (87°F).
The coldest month is January with an average maximum temperature of 30°C (71°F).
November is the wettest month. This month should be avoided if you are not a big fan of rain.
January is the driest month.
