The largest national park in Sri Lanka, Wilpattu National Park is an iconic attraction for a stimulating wildlife safari. Its name itself means 'natural lakes', as the park contains nearly 60 extraordinary lakes and tanks.
Wilpattu National Park is world-renowned for its tremendous leopard population, in addition to the 31 species of endemic mammals, such as elephants, sloth bears, water buffaloes, sambar deer, and shrews.
Opening hours are from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. The prime time to visit are from February to October, although it is open for visitors throughout the year.
