St. Clair’s Falls

St. Clair’s Fall was one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Sri Lanka, however sadly lost its glory after the construction of the Upper Kotmale Dam. The waterfall can be seen from distance from a viewing desk in the St. Clair plantations. The two segments were called “The Greater Fall” and “The Lesser Fall”. The government of Sri Lanka has stated that they will release a limited amount of water to keep the waterfall alive for about 10 hours daily, however St. Clair is dying a slow death without its continuous water flow. Before the dam the fall looked magnificent from the upcountry railway lines.
