Built in 2009, Pudukuduirippu Victory Monument had been dedicated to the War Heroes that fought in the Sri Lankan civil war. The monument depicts a soldier carrying its armour on one hand, as a symbol of courage and bravery, and the National Flag on the other, portraying independence and honour of the country. The four lions in each corner of the Monument of Victory demonstrates the War Heroes who were united together from all four directions of the country in pursuit of winning the battle.
Located by the Monument of Victory is the War Museum. The museum exibits an array of naval assault vehicles, suicide boats, rocket launchers, grenades, machine guns and many other weapons used by the LTTE (Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam) during the decade-long war. You can also see a display of maps detailing the Sri Lankan Army’s final push towards victory.
