Minara Lighthouse

Originally known as Sonbithoduvai, the ancient Minara Lighthouse is one of the oldest lighthouses in Sri Lanka. It was built by the Portuguese in the 16th century. Even though most of the lighthouse is in ruins, the staircase inside is still intact. You can climb halfway through the tower, however not to the top as the rest of the stairs have been wrecked.
