Holombuwa Sthri Pura Gal Len Viharaya

The majestic cave temple beckons travelers to unravel an assortment of stunning 1900s sculptures, paintings and a mysterious pond with crystal clear water. You will be greeted by an imposing stone arch before you enter the cave. Inside the cave, there is an amazing network of tunnels that are thought to be connected to the Yatahalena Cave and Dedigama Kota Vehera, but are now sealed off. According to legend, King Valagamba hid 500 of his wives in this cave during his exile, hence the name Sthri Pura - a place full of wives.
