A gigantic Buddha statue located on the Bahirawakanda overlooking Kandy, this temple provides magnificent views over the Kandy City, Lake and the temple of tooth. The steps at the rear of the statue lets you walk to an observation platform. The statue was built in 1992 and opened for the public on the first of January 1993. It's best to visit the temple in the evenings, make use of a Tuk Tuk to get to the top of the steep mountain, and wear appropriate clothing.
